This ROM pack intends to provide the best version of Final Fantasy I-VI for english speakers in the NES and SNES using fan translations and improvements in the form of rom hacks which are faithful to the original japanese release. The gameplay mechanic alterations beyond restoring an original setting are contained to quality of life improvements. These romhacks fix translation errors, remove censorship, fix bugs in geral and also gameplay issues that are obviously a bug or provide a fan translation for a game that was never translated. As such this pack ultimately picks hacks that provide less buggy and properly translated versions of each game.

All Final Fantasy games were eventually brought to the west in later gaming consoles, this pack is for those who want to play the NES/SNES originals.

All hacks are their latest versions as of 5/22/2018
All roms taken from no-intro, their md5 and sha1 sums were checked to match the ones stipulated in the hack’s romhacking.net page.
Every resulting rom was compressed with p7zip for GNU+Linux, the files are .7z files with LZMA compression.

There is a lot of naming confusion in this series. 3 out of the 6 games were originally released in the west, as such there are some gaps between game releases in the United States. This pack follows the original, japanese naming convention.
For instance, Final Fantasy IV was renamed to Final Fantasy II in the United States because the real Final Fantasy II and III games weren’t released there, and Square didn’t want a gap in their sequential naming order. It is named Final Fantasy IV in this pack.
